day 5: Tsukiji Fish Market (where the world's sushi comes from)

the biggest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world and also one of the largest wholesale food markets of any kind.

quick notes:

wore brown leather sandals to go with my brown leather belt that was cinching a light blue dress. a fisherman whose face looked more like a tree's gnarled root than the weathered bow of a ship dumped a bucket of gore right in front of me. if i hadn't jumped back and tipped over a pile of salty fish cakes i would have been drenched for the rest of the day.

the man in the photos was slicing the fat off octopi. one of them clung to him, wrapped its spongey tentacles up to his shoulder. reminded me of a relationship, and i turned away to pop in a fresh piece of gum and talk to our professor about possible lunch places.
